Majority of iPhone Users Upgraded to iOS 26: What's Stopping the Rest?
Nearly three-quarters of iPhone users have upgraded to iOS 26, but a lack of awareness and battery concerns hinder the rest. What's the story?
Hey, did you know that a whopping 74% of modern iPhone users have already upgraded to the latest iOS version? That's right! Apple tells us that even when you throw in the vintage iPhones still out there, a staggering 66% of users have laid eyes on the cool 'Liquid Glass' feature. And guess what? That's something Google can only dream of. Only a measly 7% of users have updated to Android 16, released nearly a year ago. Even more shocking, over 70% of active Android smartphones are still chugging along on Android 14 or older. Now you might be wondering, 'Why aren't more people upgrading?' Well, it turns out, the main hurdle is simply not knowing about it. The majority of users surveyed by SellCell haven't switched to iOS 26 because they hadn't heard a peep about it. Additionally, 20% of users are worried that the semi-transparent effects of 'Liquid Glass' will drain their smartphone battery faster than a hungry teenager raids a fridge.
